Following his doctorate, he served as an assistant professor at Delta University's Faculty of Engineering, in the Department of Communications and Computer Engineering. Dr. Thelma Calix Americas Dr. Thelma Calix is a professor in the Department of Tourism and Nutrition as well as Hospital and Health Care. She received her B.S. in Agroindustry from Zamorano University in Honduras in 2005. In 2008, she obtained an M.S. in Food Science and Human Nutrition with a Minor in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida. She earned her Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from Texas A&M University in 2011. Dr. Calix joined the department in December 2017. Her research interests focus on the utilization of food antimicrobials to inhibit bacterial foodborne pathogens. She explores the diverse chemistry, spectrum of activity, sources, and applications of natural food antimicrobials within foods.
